Similar to last summer’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, the #SMAshSMA challenge is ON this summer.  I’m spreading the word because August is SMA, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, Awareness Month, and I know of an adorable little baby (the son of a childhood friend), who is fighting SMA.

What is SMA?

SMA is the #1 genetic cause of death for infants and young children. According to Cure SMA

SMA (spinal muscular atrophy) is a disease that robs people of physical strength by affecting the motor nerve cells in the spinal cord, taking away the ability to walk, eat, or breathe.

How you can help

Follow the lead of journalist Stephen Clark, whose video started the #SMAshSMA Challenge.

So go out and smash something this month! Smash safely, of course! And if you feel inspired to do more, consider making a donation to www.curesma.org.
