What have I been creating lately? It seems that card-making and learning watercolor painting have been some of my go-to crafts. I’ve been watching videos and reading books on watercolor techniques and hope to take a class in-person someday too! The smaller paper size lends itself well to making cards. Here are some of my creations:
Mother’s Day Cards
I referred to this tutorial from Joly Poa on Pinterest. While I didn’t finish it off with a gold marker, I still am happy with the end results! They turned out great on green paper cardstock and white cards for two incredible moms in our lives.
Mountain Card
I painted a few mountain scenes using Rebel Unicorn Crafts’ video. I saw a mono chromatic version of a card with a mountain scene that said “Mountains of Thanks.” For one mountain watercolor card that I made (not pictured), I wrote Mountains of Love for a sympathy card. The blues are dreamy, especially in the background. I could see myself painting more versions of this.
More Watercolor Flowers and Tutorials
5 things I wish I knew before I started watercolor by Kristin Van Leuven was a very helpful beginner video. I’m still working on how to use my tubes of watercolor and my make my own watercolor pans from tubes with this tutorial from Ebb & Flow Creative Co. I also tried this fun Watercolor Flowers kit from Michael’s. It includes a paint palette and illustrated drawings on a set of twelve cards. These three postcards included videos that I could follow. All in all, it was pretty fun and easy to do!
Other Projects
I have a marbling art kit that creates very cool patterns. Here’s a card that I made with marbled paper.
